It started in the hot blinding school yard and grew from there. Forest Hill Public School has been an eco school for years and they have excelled to being a gold eco school. The teachers and parents in the past have planted trees and a garden on the primary side and trees and rocks on the junior side of the school. A group of mothers got together one day and started talking about the need for shade not only for keeping cool but for protection from the sun. How many children put sunscreen on? How long is sunscreen good for if you only apply it in the morning? How much damage was being done? We saw a need. We had a desire for shade and began a plan. We are starting small and after the construction we will be planning big. Really Big!
